What is the purpose of LibertyGroup.org?
LibertyGroup.org is a political action committee which raises funds to help elect candidates for public office who reflect our values of smaller government, sound money, and lower taxes. Our primary focus is on the U.S. Congress.
What is your political philosophy and plan of action?
1) The Constitution is the supreme law of the land that trumps all other law. Activist judges who legislate from the bench and politicians who violate their oaths to uphold the Constitution should be fired.
2) Americans spend too many days each year paying their total tax obligations before they can start paying for their own basic necessities like housing, groceries, insurance, clothing, education and retirement savings.
3) An increase in American productivity (GDP) is not a valid reason to increase the size of government.
One of our major goals is to help elect Liberty candidates to the U.S. House of Representatives from all over the country, such that they can gain the majority, elect a like-minded Speaker of the House, control committees, and not send the wrong legislation to the Senate and President for their approval. Success MUST start in the "House."
What do you look for in a candidate before deciding to support them?
For starters, candidates we support must be willing to:
1) Vote 'No' on all spending bills and legislation that involve borrowed money and increased national debt. Presently, all spending legislation by Congress involves deficit spending. The initial budgets submitted to Congress by the White House have built in deficits, without even considering all other spending bills that come up throughout the calendar year. In fact, they may even operate without approving a yearly budget, which to us is unconscionable.
2) Oppose any and all tax increases, including the creation of new types of taxes. (i.e. Presidential candidate Herman Cain called for a new national sales tax).
3) Refrain from taking any action which involves raising the debt ceiling of the United States.
Do you consider a candidate's positions on issues other than sound money, before deciding to contribute to their campaigns?
Yes, but at this time we've made the decision not to formally establish any other 'litmus tests' for initial consideration of a candidate. It's difficult enough to find people who are able and willing to run for office and keep the three simple and responsible sound money pledges we require of them. And if we waited around for the 'perfect candidate' (which never exists), no one would ever receive our support.
How will my money be used?
All donations are held until an appropriate candidate appears and needs the typical resources needed for winning, including but not limited to campaign web sites, literature, travel expenses, and advertising. Millions of dollars are donated to PACs each year by people just like you who want their voices heard. But most of them don't share our values, as evidenced by the incumbent politicians they keep supporting, election cycle after election cycle who raise our taxes and/or increase our nation's debt. LibertyGroup.org is doing the work needed to counter their influence so that you don't have to.
How do I donate?

"...(David) Walker has given up on elected officials, and taken his message directly to taxpayers..."
This video was broadcast on March 4, 2007. It was updated on July 8, 2007. It remains relevant because our incumbent politicians keep making matters worse. When David Walker speaks of a "fiscal cancer" and "our own fiscal irresponsibility," he isn't just talking about irresponsible politicians, he's talking about us for continuing to elect them. The younger you are, the more outraged you should be.
